What is Hound House?
So, what exactly is Hound House?
First and foremost, it is our home--a 1790 Connecticut farmhouse located on a quiet country road in Newtown. We purchased the home in 2014 and immediately began transforming it into our refuge. As we began entertaining friends and family, they would comment about how special the house is and what a perfect place it could be for events, etc. Those comments got us thinking that we would like to share our passion, our home, with a larger audience. We also knew that this venture would not simply be about sharing a house, but a lifestyle.
We offer the house and garden as a unique boutique venue as well as a location for commercial/editorial film and photo shoots. So far, Hound House was the backdrop for Royal Velvet’s Fall 2017 campaign and The Dan Patrick Show shot a Thanksgiving segment with Traeger Grills in the garden. As far as events, the garden is a perfect spot for intimate backyard weddings, showers, or other small gatherings.
Hound House has a growing line of lifestyle products. We want to share a bit of what makes our life here so special and help you bring a bit of Hound House into your home. We began with a line of candles, The Olfactory Collection. We spent many hours capturing just the right scents that reflect different aspects of Hound House. Our Signature and Holiday scents are the first two in our collection and we’re currently working on two others to debut very soon! Our candles are made right here in Connecticut. Locally, they are available at Queen Street Gifts & Treats in Newtown, Shakespeare’s Garden in Brookfield, and DC Kingswood at the Fairfield County Antique and Design Center in Norwalk. Of course, the candles can be purchased on our website. Additionally, we are developing and curating a special collection of items with local makers and artists which will be available for purchase exclusively on houndhousect.com.
Another facet of Hound House is our design services. We are happy to help you add some Hound House inspiration to your own space. Collin began Collin Robison Design a number of years ago and it only made sense to merge the businesses. Collin’s work has been featured in Connecticut Cottages and Gardens, Nora Murphy Country House, Decor Arts Now, Unlocking Fairfield, and will soon appear in Country Home Magazine. From residential to commercial spaces, Collin creates interiors that reflect the unique stories of his clients.
So, that’s Hound House in a nutshell. This blog will be a vehicle to give you a peek inside to our life here and a behind-the-scenes view of the special happenings that occur. We’ve already started our second post! It’s a “before and after” story that you won’t want to miss. We look forward to sharing even more of Hound House with you!
